6 – Google Customer Match

We use Google Ads Customer Match, which is offered for people in the European Economic Area and Switzerland by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, and for all other people by Google LLC 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (together “Google”).

Customer Match is a feature of Google Ads that allows us to reach potential and existing customers more effectively and personalize them on Google Search, Google Shopping tab, Gmail, YouTube, and Google Display Network for advertising. Google Customer Match is primarily used for remarketing, campaign optimization, and increasing conversion rates.

Personalization of Google Ads is based on targeting a group and is carried out by Google using the information from your Google account and based on activities and interests that occur when you use Google’s products and advertising partners.

As Google’s advertising partners, the use of Google Customer Match allows us to target you more accurately and ensures, for example, that the advertising played through Google Ads matches the specific interests of the target group resulting from your use of our store. For this purpose, Customer Match does not require separate cookies, and personalized advertising will be played through Google Ads itself only if you have given your consent to the processing of cookies through our cookie banner or elsewhere on Google. Google requires a list of customer data to determine if you are already known as a user. Google does not receive your personal data (e.g., email address, phone number) but only so-called hash codes that are created in a one-way process. Google compares the hash codes with its own user database and can only decipher the said codes if the data is already available in its database. Consequently, Google does not receive the customer data uploaded during the upload but can only determine if the data is available on Google. If the data already known to Google matches the hash codes, an assignment for the creation of target groups is possible. After the target groups have been created, the uploaded data is deleted.

The legal basis for the use of Google Customer Match is our legitimate interest according to Art. 6 (1) (f) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), to achieve the above objectives and to allow successful online retargeting of our customers. The customer matching process, in particular the one-way encryption implemented, protects the personal data of our customers and prevents Google from obtaining data that has not been provided as part of a Google account. If you do not wish this, you can deactivate the processing of data by Google here: https://adssettings.google.com/notarget

For data processing in the context of Google Customer Match, we have concluded a data processing agreement with Google Ireland Limited. Moreover, Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC have concluded standard contractual clauses for data exchange with the United States.
